 New Irish Technical Director
After discussing the issue at great length with Irish IRKRS Shibucho committee I am very pleased to announce that Sensei Paul Allan, of Cork, has been appointed the position of IRKRS Technical Director for Ireland.
Former Scottish KUGB senior instructor, international competitor, and accredited referee/judge, Sensei Allan brings with him nearly forty years of experience to our family. A 7th degree black belt in Shotokan Karate [with both the USA Shotokan Karate Federation and the American Shotokan Karate Federation] he is widely respected for his teaching methods, organizational skills, and integrity.
A former paramedic, who now works in the medical industry, Paul’s literally trained and taught all over the world. He’s even worked closely with British and European world-class competitive athletes. Most importantly, he has the respect and confidence of our senior Yudansha both in and out of Ireland.
With more than 90% of our Irish membership being Shotokan-based learners, making the transition to KU, it’s a huge windfall that we’re able to attract someone of his standing. Equally interested in introducing KU application practices to his own group.
We’ve all been discussing a workable game plan over the past few months aimed at improving the foundation skills of all KU learners in Ireland and succeeded in finding just the right formula. I am confident Paul Allan’s contributions will help strengthen the core foundation skills of all KU learners in Ireland and thank the Irish Shibucho committee for their recommendation.
